Are you an advanced amateur or professional photographer who wants to improve their travel and location imagery, take better landscape shots and learn the secrets to scouting locations for a trip? If so, sign up for this photography workshop. In this intensive three day weekend, you'll learn

  • How to scout locations in advance of a trip
  • Developing a shot list
  • How to spot the difference between great and not so great landscape shots
  • The mechanics of capturing great landscapes
  • Tools and techniques
  • Looking for light - finding the right light for the shot you want
  • Making the most of bad light
  • Selling your images and marketing your work

You'll also see some the most spectacular scenery anywhere in North America and be lead to some of the greatest places in the Canadian Rockies for capturing postcard images.

Workshop attendees will be staying at the historic Num Ti Jah Lodge at the foot of the Bow Glacier in the heart of Banff National Park. The workshop begins with a group dinner on Friday evening. An overview of the weekend and discussion of logistics will follow dinner. On Saturday, we rise early for a short walk along the shores of Bow Lake towards the Bow Glacier where we will photograph the surrounding mountains, glaciers and alpine flowers. On Sunday, we'll be up early again to travel to the Valley of Ten Peaks to capture sunrise on the peaks. Monday will include shooting and a hike along Parker Ridge.

Afternoons of each day will involve a slide show and discussion in the Lodge's rustic lounge. During this time, we'll discuss and critique individual images and technique in order to help you improve your imagery and get high impact landscape and nature images. Early evening, we'll head out for sunset shots around Lake Louise and the Icefields Parkway.

As a travel photographer, my work has been seen in publications all over the world including numerous in flight magazines, advertisements, travel brochures, guide books and the New York Times travel section.

A resident of Calgary, Alberta, I have been photographing the Rockies for more than 10 years. My teaching style is a collaborative one. By developing an understanding of your goals, together we'll explore your weaknesses one on one and develop techniques for you to take your photography to the next level. This one on one attention is why I limit my classes to six participants.

Please note that due to the limited size of the workshop and the unique location, this workshop usually books up
quickly.
