Online Portfolio choices
Not many days go by here in the onewordphotography bunker that we don’t get some sort of email or phone call invitation to sign up for the latest, greatest, busiest, highest trafficest, most SEOest, online photographer portfolio website, interface or gallery.
Frankly, when it comes to marketing, a freelance photographer probably has more choices than money. Over the years, I’ve tried them all. Some work a little, a few work pretty good and most are a waste of money. Unfortunately, they’re like hot peppers, you gotta try ‘em all and really feel the pain in order to find the one that suits your taste. That said, the latest one comes from Rob Haggart over at APE. It’s called A Photo Folio.com and it looks pretty slick. Like I said, there’s a ton of these online photographer portals out there and to me, they all look pretty much the same. The difference here is that it’s got sufficient juice behind it in the form of Rob to get the attention of the community and probably draw in a lot of traffic. Adding to the twist, you can get Rob, who has some real cred in the PE business, to photo edit your proposed online portfolio for a paltry $300 extra which may be of real value depending on the type of clients you’re trying to attract.
Either way, if you’re in need of a website, looking to upgrade from one of the crummy ones you put up five years ago or just wanna see if you can find some love in the fast circles some of the APE crowd runs in, you might consider having a look.
